Over the last few days we’ve carried out some much-needed upgrades to our pitch, with the goal mouths finally getting the attention they’ve needed for the past few years.
The old surfaces were in a terrible state, so we upgraded them using hybrid turf from the Croke Park Turf Farm – a big step forward for the club.
As part of the works, the old goals were removed and a brand-new set of goals has been installed, which will be fully completed ahead of the start of the playing season.
A massive thank you to Peter from Killeen Sports Grounds, who undertook the work for us. This simply wouldn’t have been possible without his expertise and knowledge.
From a club point of view, an enormous thanks also goes to our volunteers who gave their time and effort to get the works completed: Aidan Quinn, James Brett, Gerard Forde, Donal Walsh, Noel Quinn, John Diskin, Michéal O’Laochdha, Kevin Conlon, Seán Forde, Stephen Forde, Liam Donoghue, Jamie Cannon, Niall Donoghue, Liam Lawless & Michael Kelly.
The work done is often unseen by most, but the results speak for themselves.
A special word of thanks also to Ned Forde for off-loading the turf with the teleporter at short notice — a huge help and very much appreciated.
A GAA club is only as strong as its volunteers – and once again ours have delivered.
